NEW LAPTOP CASE FOILS PEEKERS, NIXES GLARE

New York NY (June 5, 2003) -- Marc My Word (U.S.) Inc., a New York City-based manufacturer, has introduced a laptop case named “The Gatch”™ that includes a built-in privacy and glare protection device for people who use their laptops in public places or outdoors. The patent-pending device is an integrated retractable hood assembly that converts the laptop case to an enclosed workspace.
According to MMW CEO Marc Heiman, many laptop owners like to bring their computers everywhere they go, and use them anywhere, anytime. “People are using their computers on planes, trains, buses, boats, in airports. Anyone can see the screen, so privacy is increasingly becoming an issue.” says Heiman. Another concern expressed by laptop owners is screen glare from sun or bright lights, which can be hard on the eyes. “We have taken a multi-functional approach to laptop case design – it is more than transportation, it is a portable workspace. It provides a glare-free, private environment”.
Heiman sees many applications for “The Gatch”. In addition to the privacy and glare protection functions, it can be used on construction sites and other outdoor locations to keep dust and elements from the computer. Heiman adds that the water-resistant material and rugged construction make it suitable for use almost anywhere. “People are amazed when they see this great looking case convert to a workstation. It allows you to use your laptop safely, wherever you need to use it”.
The Gatch is available in black ballistic nylon, leather, and neoprene, with more colors to be introduced later in the year. The company plans to distribute the products through national retailers and specialty catalogs, as well as the Internet.
